Two Texas women were arrested after authorities accused them of using a drone to smuggle drugs, cell phones, and tobacco into a federal prison in central Louisiana.

Deputies with the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office intercepted the attempted delivery targeting the Pollock Federal Correctional Complex located in the parish. The women used a drone to fly plastic crow decoys hollowed out and stuffed with contraband onto the prison grounds, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators said the suspects admitted they were paid $40,000 to complete the operation.

Melanie Jean Worthington, 38, of Joshua, Texas, faces charges of taking contraband into a penal institution and possession of methamphetamine and marijuana with intent to distribute.

Kassy Marie Cole, 41, of Hurst, Texas, was charged with taking contraband into a penal institution and possession of methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute. Authorities said Cole also had an outstanding warrant at the time of her arrest.

Last month, the GPSO arrested a Missouri woman for allegedly smuggling $2,300 worth of Psilocybin mushrooms, also known as magic mushrooms, and about $10,000 worh of marijuana into the federal correctional facility. She was charged with possession of the items with the intent to distribute and for taking contraband into a penal institution.
