A San Antonio man drew four concurrent 50-year prison terms for violent crimes, including the murders of two men he met on a dating app.
Jer Auntey Pleasant, 25, was convicted of killing Larry Wilson and Joseph West in 2023, along with aggravated robbery and aggravated sexual assault of a child, Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales announced.
Judge Kristina Escalona of the 186th District Court imposed the sentence. Pleasant used the Grindr app and posed as “Derek” to lure Wilson. On April 14, 2023, Wilson was found shot to death in his vehicle. Investigators found messages on Wilson’s phone linking him to Pleasant.
The next day, Joseph West was found shot in the head in his apartment. Ballistics confirmed the same gun in both deaths. Fingerprints at the scenes and phone records tied Pleasant to the crimes.
Court records show Pleasant’s offenses dated back earlier. In March 2022, he met another victim on the dating app, shot him, and tried to steal his belongings in an aggravated robbery.
In July 2022, DNA evidence identified Pleasant in the aggravated sexual assault of a 13-year-old child.
“I would like to commend our law enforcement partners and prosecution team for their tireless effort in ensuring that accountability would be achieved in these cases,” Joe Gonzales said in a statement. “While today’s outcome will never restore the lives that were lost, it represents a step toward justice for the victims and their loved ones.”
