Carrollton Police have confirmed the causes of death of three members of the same family during a fire breakout on October 1.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the bodies of an elderly man and his two adult children were found in the apartment in the 3900 block of Alto avenue in North Carrollton last Saturday. Carrollton police officers said the fire incident was under investigation as a murder-suicide case.

Police have now said that William Randolph Singer, 53, murdered his father, William Roy Singer, 77, and sister, Cheri Ann Singer, 51, before setting the house ablaze.

When Carrollton firefighters arrived at the apartment to put out the fire, William Randolph Singer was also found dead from a gunshot wound to his temple.

William Roy and Cheri had “apparent signs of shock,” police said.

Holy Covenant Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP) took to its Facebook page on October 3 to identify Cheri as its own. The post described Cheri as an incredible teacher and co-worker.

“Words cannot express how devastated we all are and how much she will be missed. May light shine perpetually on Ms. Singer,” the post read.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends and all whose lives were made better simply because she was a part of it.”

ECDP planned to hold a special assembly in her honor at 2 p.m. on October 6.

While police said evidence found around the scene suggested that the victims died before the fire broke out, autopsy results were yet to be officially released, and the investigation was still ongoing.
