Police in Carrolton are investigating the deaths of three people found Saturday afternoon in a house fire in North Carrolton.

Carrolton Firefighters responded to a call of smoke coming from a house in the 3900 block of Alto Avenue shortly before 4 p.m., according to a news release.

As firefighters worked to put out the fire, they discovered three dead people inside including a 51-year-old woman, a 77-year-old man, and a 53-year-old man.

The woman and the younger man showed signs of trauma and appeared to have died before the fire erupted. The man had suffered an apparent gunshot to the head.

Officials have since ruled the incident as a double murder-suicide and are conducting an investigation.

All three people are members of the same family, and according to local news outlets that spoke with neighbors of the family, they were an elderly man, his son, and his daughter.

Initial evidence showed this to be an isolated incident with no threat to the area.

The Dallas Express reached out to the Carrolton police department for comment, but no comment has yet been received.
