An Irving man has been arrested and charged with attempted aggravated kidnapping after police received numerous tips from the public following an incident at Shady Grove Trail Park.
The Irving Police Department identified the suspect as 29-year-old Isaac Guevara. Dallas County jail records show that he was taken into custody on September 19 and charged with a probation violation of driving while intoxicated, in addition to the attempted kidnapping with a deadly weapon charge.
Police said the arrest stems from an incident reported around 8:20 p.m. on September 14 in the northeast portion of Shady Grove Trail Park in the 700 block of West Vilbig Street.
Investigators previously said a 22-year-old woman was walking along a trail when a man approached her and allegedly attempted to grab her.
Police released surveillance images of the suspect as part of their “Who Done It Wednesday” crime awareness campaign. The appeal generated numerous tips that helped investigators identify Guevara, police said.
Before the arrest, police described the suspect as a white man in his mid-to-late 20s who was approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with a medium-to-heavy build. He was also described as having medium-length black wavy hair and a short, unkempt beard.
Surveillance footage showed the suspect running across a parking lot and West Shady Grove Road following the reported incident.
Guevara remains in custody at the Dallas County Jail, and no bond has been set for the attempted kidnapping charge.
