Irving police are asking the public for help identifying a man accused of attempting to kidnap a woman at Shady Grove Trail Park earlier this week.
The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. on September 14 in the northeast portion of the park in the 700 block of West Vilbig Street.
According to police, the suspect approached a 22-year-old woman who was walking along a trail and allegedly attempted to grab her.
Investigators released updated photographs and surveillance images of the suspect as they work to identify him.
Police described the suspect as a white man in his mid-to-late 20s, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with a medium-to-heavy build. He reportedly has medium-length, black, wavy hair and a short, unkempt beard.
Surveillance footage later captured the suspect running across a parking lot and across West Shady Grove Road.
The woman was not identified by police.
The incident has raised concerns among people who live near the park, which is located across from Townley Elementary School and has lighting for nighttime use.
Rene Sage, who lives near the park, said the lighting made the incident unexpected.
“They have lights here, so they welcome people to come at night,” Sage said, Fox 4 KDFW reported.
Karla Avila, whose child attends Townley Elementary School, said the incident was concerning for parents.
“It scares parents,” Avila said, per Fox 4.
