Officers with the Dallas Police Department arrested a fugitive wanted on multiple felony narcotics charges during a joint operation with federal authorities in downtown Dallas this week.

Police said Central Business District officers working with the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force arrested 40-year-old Velisa Purvis on January 6 in the 1500 block of Garrett Avenue. Purvis was taken into custody without incident.

According to police, Purvis had four outstanding felony warrants related to narcotics offenses.

During a search following the arrest, officers recovered 39 small bags of suspected crack cocaine, two bags of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug packaging materials, currency, and additional paraphernalia. Investigators said the drugs were packaged in a manner consistent with distribution.

Purvis now faces additional felony charges, including manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance between four and 200 grams, as well as manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance between one and four grams.
