Dallas police arrested a man from Lone Oak in Hunt County for allegedly arranging to have sex with someone he thought was a 13-year-old.

Police said James Alfred Moad responded to a Craigslist ad posted by a Dallas Police Department undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old online. The ad said that the girl’s phone had been broken by her father and she needed a new one.

As stated in an arrest warrant affidavit, 51-year-old Moad and the teenager (undercover officer) began exchanging messages via email. At one point, Moad sent the girl a cellphone.

During a conversation between the two, Moad told the Dallas Police officer, “13 is pretty much [too] young for me,” when she asked, “What’s wrong with my age?”

After more days of texting between the two, Moad asked the girl to send him nude photographs more than once. The affidavit also alleges that he had several discussions about sexual conduct with her. On July 7 and 8, he sent multiple nude photos of himself to the girl.

Dallas Police further allege that Moad arranged to meet with the girl at a Far North Dallas apartment on July 11 for sexual intercourse. Authorities apprehended him when he texted the teenager (undercover officer) that he had arrived at the apartment. Moad was transferred to the Dallas County jail, where he faces a charge of online solicitation of a minor younger than 14. His bail is set at $25,000.

The affidavit also stated that Moad allegedly repeatedly spoke about how he could get into trouble for meeting up with the girl and sending her nude photos due to her age.
