Tyler Patrick Brown, a 24-year-old Lubbock man, was charged with possession of child pornography on June 29, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Chad E. Meacham, announced on Thursday.

Multiple law enforcement agencies opened an investigation into the defendant after some parents complained that Brown was having inappropriate contact and sexual relationships with high school students, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.

After investigators questioned him, Brown admitted to having engaged in fourteen sexual relationships with minor girls while he was an adult. The defendant also admitted that he lied to the students, telling them he was also a minor high school student in order to gain their trust.

Authorities also executed a search warrant on Brown’s cell phone and allegedly found a video of a 15-year-old minor engaging in sexual acts. According to the announcement, Brown’s possession of the video constitutes child pornography as defined by federal law.

Even after investigators interviewed Brown, a parent of one of his alleged victims saw him at a Lubbock area high school basketball game wearing a “Press” lanyard, the official news release stated. One of the investigators promptly confronted Brown, forcing him to leave the game.

It’s unclear how the defendant pleaded in the case or whether he had any legal representation, but the Department of Justice announcement noted that Brown is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation into the case is still ongoing, and anyone with any relevant information pertaining to this case is urged to the Federal Bureau of Investigation Texas field office at 806-765-8571.
