Two teenagers claiming to be “Bank Roll Gang” members face charges of car theft and organized crime, the Blue Mound Police Department (BMPD) said on their social media.
Police received reports that someone was attempting to steal cars last Saturday night, June 18, at the Blue Mound Carvana used car lot. Soon after, an investigation showed a truck crashed into a security gate.
Ethan Gaither, 18 years old, was allegedly the driver, according to BMPD. Gaither was arrested near the proximity of the crime. Andy Sanchez, also 18, of Arlington, was arrested later, NBC News reports.
“They take a $60,000 vehicle and smash it and total it, just to get another vehicle out of the lot,” Blue Mound Chief of Police Dusty Steele said. “It shows they don’t care.”
BMPD said Sanchez and two other teens drove out another exit in a stolen 2020 black Dodge Challenger. A search continues for two other men believed to be suspects.
Officers are still looking for Aidian Pierce, 18 years old, of Grand Prairie. He has several small face tattoos, including a small cross between his eyes. According to police, he shared a photo of himself on social media that appears to show him driving the stolen vehicle.
Police said the teens are part of the “Bank Roll Gang” active in the Grand Prairie and Arlington regions.
“Bank Roll Gang, from what we’ve learned about them, is they go around and steal vehicles, break into vehicles, steal guns, and whatever they can steal to sell it for a profit to add money to their ‘bankroll,'” Steele told NBC. “They’re heavily armed from what we’ve seen,” the chief said, NBC reports. “They will run from the police in these vehicles. They’ll do whatever they can to get away.”
In mid-May, The Dallas Express reported The City of Dallas’s own car theft problem. The City of Dallas Police Department’s administrative weekly report to the city council on May 11 showed a nearly 30% increase during 2022 in car thefts city-wide when comparing year-to-date (YTD) analysis, The Dallas Express reports.
“I have discussed the increases in crime areas that you pointed out with Chief Garcia,” District 3 Councilman Casey Thomas II told The Dallas Express in April. “Over the next few weeks, we will look at those individual areas and identify where we have increased in the district and what can be done to address it.”
