A former Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD teacher faces a federal indictment accusing him of lying to the FBI about inappropriate messages to students and blaming students with special needs for the content.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas announced on October 23 that a grand jury indicted Landon Beck, 32, on October 7. Prosecutors had initially charged Beck by criminal complaint over statements he allegedly made during FBI interviews on July 9 and July 30.

According to the Department of Justice’s account of the indictment, Beck worked for the district in March 2023, when an internal inquiry raised concerns about his communications with students through the school’s messaging system. FBI investigators reviewed district reports and other materials.

Prosecutors allege Beck sent students images depicting an adult man defecating outdoors, a digital rectal examination, adult men kissing and cartoon male genitals. The release also alleges he discussed a pornography website with a student with special needs and used a derogatory expression toward a student with special needs.

During both FBI interviews, Beck allegedly denied sending inappropriate digital content and claimed students with special needs had originated the messages, according to prosecutors.

“Providing false information to the FBI or otherwise obstructing a federal investigation is a serious offense,” FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock said in the release.

The announcement identifies the charge as making false statements to federal agents. Beck faces up to five years in federal prison if convicted, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He remains presumed innocent unless prosecutors prove his guilt in court.

The FBI’s Dallas Field Office investigated with assistance from the Carrollton Police Department and Texas Education Agency. Assistant U.S. Attorney Theodore V. Parran III is prosecuting the case.

As The Dallas Express previously reported, Project Safe Schools targets failures to report educator misconduct. Prosecutors announced Beck’s indictment under that initiative, which uses civil and criminal enforcement to address school safety and accountability.
