The Dallas County courts building was evacuated after receiving a report of a bomb threat on Friday morning.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said it was notified of a bomb threat at the Frank Crowley Courts Building at 8:10 a.m. on November 18. In response, officers evacuated the building and secured the building perimeter. The FBI brought in bomb-sniffing canine units to investigate the area.

The Frank Crowley Courts Building is home to the public defender’s office, the probation office, and the district attorney’s office. The building was evacuated earlier this year in March due to smoke caused by burnt food.

Public information officer Jasmyn Carter said authorities urged the public to keep away from the building and closed roads such as Riverfront and Commerce Street around the courthouse.

Some who were in the buildings at the time of the evacuations posted comments on Twitter. One wrote, “Bomb threat at Dallas county courthouse, outside freezing waiting smh.”

Another remarked, “Bomb threat at the criminal court house in Dallas County. Great start to the holiday.”

Dallas Police Department tactical support said at 12:37 p.m. that the bomb threat was successfully resolved. Officials told WFAA a device was expected to go off at 10 a.m. However, no device was found.

The building remained closed for the rest of the day.

Officials had not confirmed how the threat was received, to whom it was directed, or the sender’s identity at the time of this article’s publication.
