U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is scheduled to appear in Addison on Friday, February 20, as part of the Trump Accounts Tour, a nationwide effort to promote tax-advantaged investment accounts for children.

The event is scheduled for 2–4 p.m. CT at OAK’D BBQ, 4525 Belt Line Rd., Addison, Texas 75001, according to the registration page. Tickets are limited to one per mobile number and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The stop comes as the Trump administration prepares to launch “Trump Accounts,” a federal initiative allowing families to establish tax-advantaged investment accounts for U.S. children under 18 with a valid Social Security number.

Children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, are eligible to receive a $1,000 initial deposit from the U.S. Treasury. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the accounts are structured for long-term investment in American companies and are held in the child’s name until adulthood.

According to TrumpAccounts.gov, families may enroll through a new IRS Form 4547 beginning with the 2026 tax year. While no additional contributions are required, families, employers, or others may contribute up to $5,000 per year per child. The website states that the child is the account holder, with a parent or guardian serving as custodian until adulthood.

The accounts are scheduled to officially launch July 5, 2026.

Program materials indicate funds will be invested in diversified, low-cost index funds intended for long-term growth. Estimates published on the website are based on historical S&P 500 averages and note that actual results may differ and are not guaranteed.

President Donald Trump has described the initiative as “a pro-family initiative that will help millions of Americans harness the strength of our economy to lift up the next generation.”

Major corporations and philanthropists have pledged matching funds for eligible families, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Charles Schwab, BlackRock, Visa, Mastercard, and others, according to prior announcements.

Additional details about the Addison event, including confirmed guest speakers, have not yet been released.
