An Oak Cliff woman has admitted to plotting her husband’s death at the hand of her lover, according to court records.

According to The Dallas Morning News, court records showed Jennifer Faith, 49, entered into a plea deal with federal prosecutors regarding the murder-for-hire plot.

According to court records, Faith admitted to plotting her husband’s murder by her lover, Darrin Ruben Lopez, 49.

Lopez is accused of shooting 49-year-old James “Jamie” Faith on October 9, 2020, after driving about 650 miles from his home in Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee.

James Faith and his wife were walking their dog when Lopez allegedly shot him. According to federal authorities, Lopez, who was wearing a mask at the time of the murder, shot James multiple times — three times in the head, three times in the torso, and once in the groin — before fleeing the scene.

Federal prosecutors said Jennifer used two fake email accounts to contact Lopez pretending to be her husband and a friend, to manipulate the shooter into killing James.

According to court documents, Jennifer admitted to lying to Lopez in telling him that her husband physically and sexually abused her.

While posing as her husband, Jennifer sent pictures of injuries to Lopez via email and wrote, “Enjoy knowing you can’t do a [expletive] thing about it.” However, Jennifer admitted in court papers that the injuries were not hers and that she had gotten some of the pictures on the internet.

While posing as a friend, Jennifer sent Lopez another email and wrote, “Jamie slapped Jen…then he sent the pic of him choking her. I am asking if you are willing to get involved and help Jen get out of this situation.”

Lopez responded to the email saying he would not feel better until Jennifer was out of the house or allowed him to shoot James. While posing as her friend, Jennifer encouraged Lopez and offered to provide his alibi.

Court records show Jennifer and Lopez dated in high school and reconnected in March 2020.

After the shooting, Jennifer allegedly took out $58,000 from a GoFundMe account set up to help raise funds for her husband’s funeral expenses and used it to buy gift items for Lopez, who is disabled because of a traumatic brain injury he suffered as a soldier in Iraq.

Jennifer Faith is now facing a federal count for “use of interstate commerce in the commission of murder-for-hire.” The punishment for the offense carries life in prison and the death penalty.

Lopez, who pleaded not guilty in a federal gun crime charge, is awaiting trial on a murder charge in Dallas.
