A recent study of the best cities in the country for remote workers found three North Texas cities in the top 50.

Dallas, Fort Worth, and Plano made the list.

The study, conducted by RentCafe, compared cities across five categories (remote work readiness, rental demand, leisure, comfort, and affordability), in addition to 19 other metrics, like internet speed and cost of living, according to Candy’s Dirt.

Plano, located 20 miles north of Downtown Dallas, ranked number 23.

“Plano’s welcoming vibe is reinforced by its more than 40 hotels here catering to all budgets and styles,” the Visit the USA website states. “It’s also home to some of the most high-profile companies in the USA. Affordable, accessible, and easy-going, it’s no wonder that Forbes anointed it America’s Safest City in 2011.”

The share of remote workers in Plano was 12.6%, and the average market rent was $1,821. The percentage of Plano apartments with internet access was 87.7%.

Dallas ranked 42 on RentCafe’s list. The city has a 7.5% share of remote workers and a 65% share of apartments with internet access. According to the study, the average market rent in Dallas was $1,522.

“Dallas is a city rich in culture, history, and culinary experiences as well as unique surprises,” Visit The USA shares. “It’s home to the world-famous Dallas Cowboys, spectacular dining and entertainment, and shopping that will keep you busy for days. It’s the city where Southern hospitality meets a Texas twist.”

Fort Worth ranked 46 for remote workers. It is also among the nation’s 15 largest cities, according to the Fort Worth website. It is known for its historic stockyards, its cultural district, and Sundance Square.

“Fort Worth’s earliest buildings endure to this day—art deco skyscrapers stand beside older redbrick stalwarts,” the website states. “And though the dust of the old west is gone, Fort Worth’s proud Western heritage lives on, blending with thriving commerce and culture to create a destination unlike anywhere else in the world.”

Fort Worth had an average market rent of $1,377 and a 6.5% share of remote workers. The percentage of apartments in Fort Worth with internet access was 71.3%.

Other Texas cities were included in the RentCafe rankings, Candy’s Dirt reported, and some ranked higher than these North Texas cities.

Austin, Houston, College Station, San Antonio, Amarillo, Round Rock, Waco, and Lubbock made it on the top 50 list. Austin ranked 13, Houston ranked 35, and College Station came in at nine.

The City of San Antonio was number 41, and Amarillo was 36. Round Rock ranked 11, Waco ranked 19, and Lubbock ranked 27.

College Station, which landed in the top 10, had a 7.4% share of remote workers. The average market rent in College Station was $1,295, and the percentage of apartments with internet access was 76.6%.
