There’s no better place than Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area to hike, fish, ponder the starry sky, enjoy a bird walk, visit a historic home site, or just find a quiet place to relax. LLELA is open daily for fishing, hiking, camping, birdwatching, kayaking/canoeing, picnicking and other outdoor activities. Cane Pole Fishing 101
Saturday, July 3, 9 a.m.
Certified Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Angler Education instructors will teach attendees how to properly prepare a cane fishing pole. Attendees will practice pan fishing on land before putting their skills to the test in the river. Registration is $10 per person and includes an outfitted 10-foot cane pole for attendees to take home.
Adults 17 and older must have a valid Texas freshwater fishing license. Visit tpwd.texas.gov for details.
Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area is more than 2,600 acres of prairies, forests, and wetlands managed as a wildlife preserve by a group of agencies including the City of Lewisville, the University of North Texas, Lewisville ISD, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
