Danish Baig, a 27-year-old Dallas man, was one of eight people killed during the crowd surge that occurred on Friday at the Astroworld Festival in Houston.

Basil Mirza Baig, Danish Baig’s brother, identified the 27-year-old as one of those who died in the concert following a crowd surge during Houston rapper Travis Scott’s headline performance in the two-day music festival.

Basil said he and his brother, Danish, drove from Dallas to Houston to attend the festival. Basil wrote on a Facebook post that his brother was trampled and killed while trying to save his fiancee.

“My brother Danish Baig, a beautiful soul whose smile would light up the room and put everyone before himself,” Basil said. “Last night he showed his courageous act to save my sister-in-law, his fiance, from those horrendous things that were being done.”

Basil said he was lost for words and deep trauma from the event. Basil also recalled how people were hitting, pushing, and shoving each other during the chaos. Basil blamed Travis Scott for allegedly causing the crowd surge.

“Travis Scott provoked these people and made them do just that and more,” Basil said. “He called people to the stage to jump into the crowd and did not stop the show.”

The victim’s brother is not alone in his decision to blame the rapper. Kristian Paredes, 23, from Austin, Texas, has sued Travis Scott and Drake for over a million dollars.

Paredes claimed in his complaint that Drake, a special guest, came on stage alongside Travis Scott and helped incite the crowd.

Paredes said in his lawsuit that both rappers continued to perform as the crowd got out of control and even during the chaos that followed.

He is now seeking over one million dollars compensation for injuries he sustained during the mayhem and to cover medical expenses.
