A fatal incident on the interstate in Denton left a pedestrian dead early on March 5.

The Denton Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene in the 2400 block of southbound I-35E at about 4:20 a.m. on Saturday.

Per CBS 11 News, multiple witnesses had called 911 to report a deceased person on the roadway. The victim was hit by at least two cars.

One of the 911 callers reported that he had hit a pedestrian near the Buc-ee’s Boulevard exit.

Upon arrival, investigators determined that the victim had stopped their car on the right side of the interstate and gotten out for an unknown reason.

As the pedestrian walked into the right lane of traffic, they were hit by one car and run over by at least one other.

The two drivers known to be involved are cooperating with authorities in the investigation.

Authorities have not identified the victim.
