Drivers should expect major delays this weekend as Interstate 30 will be fully closed in both directions through downtown Dallas.

According to TxDOT, all eastbound and westbound lanes of I-30 between I-35E and I-45/U.S. 75 will be shut down beginning 10 p.m. Friday, January 16, and reopening by 5 a.m. Monday, January 19, weather permitting.

Traffic will be detoured to Woodall Rodgers Freeway (Spur 366). TxDOT urges drivers to avoid downtown Dallas during the closure if possible and plan alternate routes.

The closure is part of ongoing construction on the I-30 Canyon Project. Additional weekend closures are expected later this month.
