Shake Shack is offering customers a free burger throughout May as part of a National Burger Month promotion running at participating locations across the United States.
The promotion began May 1 and continues through May 31, allowing customers to receive one free featured single burger with a qualifying purchase of at least $10 in food or beverages.
To redeem the offer, customers must place an order through an in-store kiosk, the Shake Shack mobile app, or the company’s website and enter the promotional code “FREEBURGER” in all capital letters at checkout. The deal is not available for drive-thru purchases or orders placed through third-party delivery services.
The featured burger changes weekly during the promotion:
- May 1 through May 10: Free ShackBurger
- May 11 through May 17: Free SmokeShack
- May 18 through May 24: Free Bacon Cheeseburger
- May 25 through May 31: Free ShackBurger
The offer applies only to single burgers and excludes paid add-ons such as avocado or bacon unless those toppings are already included on the featured burger. Customers are limited to one free burger per order.
Eligible purchases must total at least $10 before taxes, delivery fees, and the cost of the free burger. Qualifying items include burgers, sandwiches, fries, chicken bites, hot dogs, drinks, shakes, frozen custard, and other menu items.
The promotion is available only at participating U.S. Shake Shack restaurants and excludes certain locations, including airports, stadiums, arenas, museums, and travel plazas.
Shake Shack said the giveaway is intended to celebrate National Burger Month by offering customers some of the chain’s most popular menu items at no additional cost after meeting the purchase requirement.
In addition, burger lovers can enter a sweepstakes from now through May 31 for a chance to win a year of free burgers. Two winners will be drawn, with each receiving a $2,000 Shake Shack gift card.
This latest Shake Shack promotion continues the chain’s strong presence in North Texas, where The Dallas Express has previously covered its expansion, including the opening of the region’s first Shake Shack drive-thru location in McKinney in 2023. The brand has become a popular fast-casual favorite across DFW.
