With the year almost wrapped up, here are some of the biggest real estate developments underway in North Texas in 2024.

The Mix in Frisco

In October, Frisco’s City Council approved a $3 billion refresh of the so-called ‘Hole by the Tollway.’ The Mix is a massive project that will include the construction of two million square feet of Class A office space, 375,000 square feet of retail shopping, two hotels, luxury apartments, and a high-end grocery store.

The City of Frisco is contributing over $113 million in initial incentive-based funding to support the development, contingent on including specific components, like a medical office and underground parking for 2,250 vehicles.

Preston Harbor in Denison

Last year, The Dallas Express reported that Denison City Council greenlit a massive residential resort on Lax Texoma. Developer Craig International out of McKinney is spearheading the $6 billion development.

At full build-out, this ambitious project situated roughly 90 minutes from Dallas is expected to house over 7,000 residential units, a 200-room resort hotel, and upwards of 600 boat slips.

Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Refresh

Earlier this year, construction began on a multi-billion dollar expansion of the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center. The refresh will see the expansion of the Memorial Arena and the Black Academy of Arts and Letters.

If everything goes according to plan, the complex could even end up hosting the “International Broadcast Center” for journalists covering the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The center would host roughly 2,000 journalists from around the world for around a month and a half.

Fort Worth Stockyards Expansion

In July, the Fort Worth City Council approved a nearly $1 billion expansion for the Stockyards. The project is slated to be the biggest expansion the Fort Worth landmark has experienced for over a century.

As part of the plan, over 300,000 square feet of commercial space will be built, as will three hotels offering at least 500 rooms, two underground parking garages with space for 1,300 vehicles, and 295 multifamily housing units.
