The North Texas housing market boasted several new luxury properties with price tags exceeding $10 million this past month.
Houston Agent Magazine compiled a list of the 10 most expensive new real estate listings seen in the state for the month of May using data from the Houston Association of Realtors.
North Texas dominated the ranking by claiming eight spots.
Mansions and Estates
Topping the list was the $60 million Crespi Estate, which is located on Walnut Hill Lane in North Dallas. The over 27,000-square-foot mansion boasts a stunning Indiana limestone façade and sits on a 15-acre lot, as The Dallas Express reported.
Erected in 1938 by Count Pio Crespi, a cotton baron from Milan, the French chateau-inspired mansion with its sprawling outdoor oasis of walking trails, a creek, a waterfall, gardens, a reflecting pool with a fountain, and more is one of the most architecturally inspired properties in the metroplex.
Significant renovations were made to bring the Crespi Estate into the 21st century back in 2017. The price tag speaks to these new state-of-the-art amenities but also the innate craftsmanship that went into its architecture and design.
The Crespi Estate is still for sale, according to its listing by Allie Beth Allman & Associates.
Another more modern architectural masterpiece can be found at 6825 Golf Drive in University Park. The mansion is a beautifully updated rendition of the Spanish Revival style.
Built in 2018 along Turtle Creek, the six-bedroom home offers plenty of space and amenities for entertaining both inside and outside. For instance, it has an infinity-edge pool, a spa, a poolhouse, an outdoor kitchen, and a cabana, according to its listing by Sotheby’s International Realty.
A Spanish-style mansion in Decatur was also named one of the 10 most expensive new real estate listings in May.
Located at 2721 Old Decatur Rd. and listed at $14.25 million, opulence meets natural beauty with almost 10,000 square feet of living space and top amenities surrounded by the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands.
Retreats
Some listings appearing in the ranking are located further away from the urban bustle for an even more idyllic retreat.
For instance, the home at 15788 Barron Rd. in Caney City offers opulent yet tranquil lakeside living.
Priced at $35 million by Allie Beth Allman & Associates, the nine-bedroom home sits on nearly 30 acres. This includes 700 feet of shoreline along Cedar Creek Lake.
Another lakeside sanctuary appearing on the list is a $15 million five-bedroom home located at 205 Lakeside Dr. in Malakoff.
The listing by Sotheby’s International Realty said that the property even appeared on the cover of Dallas Style and Design Magazine.
It has 1,000 feet of shoreline on Cedar Creek Lake, including a sandy beach.
Penthouses
Two penthouses near downtown Dallas appeared on the top 10 most expensive listings list.
Coming in at $12.8 million, an 8,200-square-foot, two-story condo within the Bleu Ciel tower offers sweeping views of the dazzling downtown Dallas skyline.
Located at 3130 N. Harwood St., the three-bedroom penthouse is currently being shown by listing agent Harwood Living GP.
For just a tad bit more, another penthouse located within the Hall Arts Residences at 1747 Leonard St. is available for $15 million.
The four-bedroom unit boasts 11,115 square feet and floor-to-ceiling windows giving awe-inspiring panoramic views of downtown Dallas and beyond. It is listed by Sotheby’s International Realty.
In the Pipeline
It is worth mentioning that several luxury home projects are currently in the pipeline throughout North Texas.
Although facing attempts to block the sale from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Dallas-based developer Todd Interests is building an exclusive gated community approximately 90 miles from Dallas that will include the largest privately owned body of water in the country, as The Dallas Express reported.
Freestone Club and Resort will offer multimillion-dollar homes, a championship golf course, and top-end amenities making the most of its 34 miles of shoreline along Fairfield Lake south of Dallas.
A lakeside project to the north of Dallas is also in the works.
McKinney-based developer Craig International plans to erect thousands of single-family and multi-family homes just an hour and a half from Dallas on the shore of Lake Texoma in Grayson County.
To be known as Preston Harbor, the luxury community will not only boast a marina with 400 to 600 boat slips and various top-end amenities, but it will also have a 200-room resort hotel and a town center with retail shops and restaurants.
