Dallas Park & Recreation has a festive lineup of activities to put you in the holiday spirit this season, with one happening this weekend.

To support its mission of bringing communities together, Dallas Park & Recreation has created a list of Holiday Happenings during December for residents and visitors to enjoy. Saturday’s event is “Holiday at the Farm.”

The 3rd annual “Holiday at the Farm” takes place on December 9 at Samuell Farm, located at 100 US-80 in Mesquite, from 1 – 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $4 for adults (18+), $3 for children (2-17), and free for children under 2. Tickets may be purchased at the event, or skip the line and purchase tickets online.

Attractions include a snow hill where children can ride a tube down a 10-foot hill made of real ice and a snow field where they can make snowmen, angels, and snowballs. Additionally, the event will have live reindeer, a petting zoo (ZOOfari), an ornament ornament-making station, and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

For an additional fee of $2, guests are welcome to join the S’mores Station, where they can enjoy making s’mores around a cozy fire. To get a free s’mores ticket for your family, you can bring a new, unwrapped gift to support the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center. The donation can be anything from board games and gift cards to sports balls and baby dolls, some of the center’s most requested items.

For an extra $5, a Holiday Hayride will take you on a journey around Samuell Farms, where you can sing some of your favorite holiday tunes while making lasting memories.

The Dallas Public Library will also join in the fun as families gather around the fire to read holiday stories all ages will enjoy.

If you are up for some competition this season, try out your skills at the Gingerbread House Making Contest, where someone will walk away with the title of Best Gingerbread House.

Live entertainment is also part of the Christmas in the Park experience, with Stage Door Dance Studio performing from 1-2 p.m., and singers Travis Walker from 2-3 p.m., Dan O’Connell from 3-4 p.m., and Noah Derrick from 4-5 p.m. will take the stage. From 5-5:30 p.m., the Mena’s Dance XChange will showcase their dance skills.

With over 25 market vendors, Christmas in the Park offers an opportunity to do a little holiday shopping while enjoying food vendors Calios Tacos, Happy Vegan, and Joy Boba.

This year’s event sponsors include Oak Farms, Pre-K DFW, Ruibal’s Plants of Texas, Central Market, and Quality Home.
