State Board of Education member Brandon Hall is calling for an investigation into social media activity and online materials linked to a Western Hills High School teacher, amid scrutiny of the school’s leadership.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Fort Worth ISD said Tuesday that Western Hills High School principal appointee Shayma Alzubi would be reassigned pending an investigation after The Dallas Express reported on social media posts tied to her Facebook account. Past posts associated with Alzubi’s account included a repost about Sharia and a profile image featuring a Black Lives Matter graphic.

Following Alzubi’s reassignment, Hall raised concerns about Western Hills High School Spanish teacher Ernie Moran.

The Dallas Express reviewed screenshots showing a website linked through Moran’s Fort Worth ISD profile that displayed a classroom-style cartoon image featuring Black Lives Matter, a rainbow pride flag, and immigrant-themed imagery.

Another screenshot showed Moran’s Fort Worth ISD profile listing him as a Spanish I and II teacher and junior varsity soccer coach at Western Hills High School.

As of publication, the images no longer appeared on the website.

Screenshots of social media posts associated with Moran also showed involvement in political causes and demonstrations.

One post dated March 24, 2026, featured the phrases “NO KINGS 3” and “NO KINGS, NO ICE: UN PUEBLO UNIDO.”

Another post promoted a June 14 No Kings rally at Burk Burnett Park and included the phrase “UNITE IN MASSIVE RALLY TO STAND UP TO TYRANNY.”

Moran also spoke at a Fight Oligarchy rally, where he said the land belonged to the “Comanche and Wichita Nations.”

Another video appeared to show Moran criticizing Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker and referring to some attendees as “Christian Nationalists.”

“No matter how much you attempt to cater to the Christian Nationalists who try to fill this room with their congregation, no matter how much you try to twist things and paint yourself as a victim, no intimidation tactic is going to keep us from our task of protecting one another,” Moran told the Fort Worth City Council in November 2025.

As of publication, Moran’s Instagram page appeared to have been made private.

This is not the first time Moran has drawn attention for political commentary tied to his social media accounts.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Moran criticized Texas Republicans in social media posts, including one directed at Gov. Greg Abbott.

“We are governed by monsters like @GovAbbott …” Moran wrote in a post referencing reports about Texas troopers and children crossing the border.

Hall said the combination of political messaging and symbols on a website linked through a district profile raised concerns that state officials should review.

“If Mr. Moran is using left-wing political slogans and pride symbols to introduce himself to students, that is completely inappropriate and a possible violation of SB 12. I am appalled by what I have seen. I plan to pass this information along to the office of the Texas Education Agency Inspector General to investigate potential violations of the law,” Hall told The Dallas Express.

The controversy comes as Fort Worth ISD continues its investigation into Alzubi and faces scrutiny over personnel decisions at Western Hills High School.

The Dallas Express reached out to Superintendent Peter Licata, Fort Worth ISD, and Moran for comment. Fort Worth ISD responded with the following statement:

“The district is currently investigating this matter. The district cannot comment further on the pending investigation. Thank you.”
