Dallas gardeners can buy plants and get help choosing varieties for their outdoor spaces at Texas Discovery Gardens‘ fall plant sale next weekend at Fair Park.

The public sale is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 19–20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Members receive an earlier shopping opportunity Friday, September 18, from 4 to 7 p.m., according to the official event announcement.

Staff and volunteers will answer questions and help shoppers choose plants that fit their spaces and gardening goals.

Texas Discovery Gardens is located at 3601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Dallas.

What Shoppers Should Bring

Organizers encourage customers to prepare shopping lists using botanical names and consult the plant sale page for availability updates.

Plants will be arranged in groups, with a map available to help shoppers navigate. Some varieties may sell out or be removed if their condition does not meet sale standards.

Customers may bring their own carts. The gardens’ carts are reserved for staff and volunteers helping shoppers move purchases out of the sale.

Organizers also recommend bringing trunk liners or cardboard to protect vehicles from soil. Members attending Friday’s preview should have their membership numbers ready. Renewals will be available online or at the sale.

Free Parking For Plant-Sale Customers

The gardens’ parking instructions direct drivers to enter Fair Park through Gate 6, turn right on Second Avenue and then left on Pennsylvania.

Free parking for plant-sale customers is listed in Lot 8, across Pennsylvania from the greenhouse. Visitors should tell Fair Park parking attendants they are attending the sale.

The greenhouse sale entrance and shopping hours differ from the gardens’ regular visitor schedule.

Gardens Offer Ideas Beyond The Sale

Texas Discovery Gardens maintains a 7.5-acre facility with native and adapted plants, specialty gardens and a two-story butterfly house and insectarium.

The nonprofit describes its grounds as organically maintained. It offers educational programs, workshops and exhibits for children and adults, along with garden trains, an outdoor playscape and a rotating art gallery.

As The Dallas Express reported in its earlier look at Texas Discovery Gardens, the site connects garden displays with lessons about sustainable practices and habitat for birds, insects and butterflies.

Its educational focus gives visitors examples of landscaping approaches they can consider for their own homes, including the use of plants adapted to North Texas conditions.

Planning A Longer Visit

Shoppers who want to explore the gardens and butterfly house can review admission options through the organization’s main website.

Regular attraction hours are listed as 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, while the public plant sale begins an hour earlier. Tickets and memberships for the attractions are available online or at the door.

Customers can review the organizer’s sale page before arriving for updates on plant availability and shopping arrangements.
