A man fatally stabbed himself during an encounter with Fort Worth police on Monday, according to a police press release.

Officers responded to a reported disturbance at about 7:23 a.m. at a business in the 2500 block of Northeast 36th Street, KERA reported. Police said the man arrived in a vehicle with two flat tires, left it at the site, and walked around the property with his dog. The man was not an employee of the business, per Fox 4 KDFW.

The man yelled obscenities at arriving officers and displayed a knife, according to the police account. Officers gave him verbal commands and used a Taser. Police said the man then stabbed himself.

Officers rendered medical assistance, but the man died at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man and determine his cause and manner of death, WFAA reported.
