Two people are lucky to be alive after their plane crashed in a Carrollton neighborhood along East Hebron Parkway on Monday, December 12.

Police in Carrollton responded to calls about the crash at approximately 8:05 p.m., according to a news release on the department’s Facebook page.

Two people were reportedly on board the two-seat, single-engine Mooney M20 plane at the time of the crash. Both individuals were transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano to have their injuries treated. They were listed in stable condition. No one else was reported injured, according to police.

Police closed a stretch of East Hebron Parkway between Marsh Ridge Road and Arbor Creek Drive to traffic. Just after midnight, the police tweeted the road was reopened.

The Mooney M20 crashed while making its approach to the Addison Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The plane departed from the Abilene Regional Airport and was registered to a Farmers Branch address.

After the preliminary investigation, the FAA handed off the investigation to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation going forward.
