President Donald Trump took aim at Rep. James Talarico (D-Austin), the party’s nominee to represent Texas in the Senate, calling him a “FRAUD.”
“The Democrat running in Texas, James Talarico, turns out to be a FRAUD,” Trump said on March 22 on Truth Social.
“He’s got six Genders, insults to Jesus, only vegan food, was wearing a mask in 2023 and 2024, and is a weak, ineffective guy.”
Talarico beat U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the Democratic primary for Senate on March 3, as The Dallas Express reported. Meanwhile, incumbent Sen. John Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton will face off on May 26 for the Republican nomination.
“It showed after the Election when he beat Low IQ Candidate Jasmine Crockett (No relation to Davy Crockett!),” Trump posted. “As bad as Crockett was as a Candidate, this guy is worse! I believe that any human being running against him, sick, incompetent, close to death or, even a child, would win.”
The Dallas Express reached out to Talarico’s campaign for comment, and a spokesman pointed to a post from March 18 when Talarico was reacting to earlier comments from Trump on Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade Show, where Trump called Talarico “whacked out” and an “insult to Jesus.”
“The President of the United States said I insulted Jesus,” Talarico said in response. “You know what insults Jesus? Deporting the stranger, and separating babies from their mothers,” he added. “You know what insults Jesus? Bombing innocent schoolchildren in Iran and sending our brave men and women off to die in another forever war. You know what insults Jesus? Covering up the Epstein files and then refusing to prosecute a single person in them.”
Numerous pundits reacted to Talarico’s post, pointing to his support for abortion until birth.
“Abortion insults Jesus,” replied Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins.
“To be accurate, you support abortion, which is literally separating babies from mothers,” Republican state Rep. Wes Virdell chimed in. “And I don’t think Jesus would approve of your false representation of the Bible.”
As The Dallas Express reported, Talarico previously claimed things like “God is nonbinary,” “our trans community needs abortion care,” and that the Bible never condemns abortion and homosexuality.
Talarico also called for reducing meat consumption, having previously boasted a “non-meat campaign” featuring “vegan products.”
After “vegan accusations,” which Trump apparently referenced in his recent post, Talarico’s campaign responded with a picture of the candidate in a Lone Star button-up, eating a turkey leg.
Further, Talarico advocated far-left criminal justice policies, as DX also reported. He once said, “prison is violence,” and called to “dismantle this system of violence,” backing an effort in 2021 to keep the Austin Police Department defunded.
