Residents across Central Texas reported hearing a loud boom Tuesday morning, but the cause of the cause of the noise has not yet been determined.

KXAN received reports from some of its viewers in Round Rock and Hutto about a booming sound that occurred at 11:30 a.m. on December 26. Some reported that the noise had been powerful enough to shake their homes.

“A boom was felt through several neighborhoods, Forest Creek, Siena, Hutto, Paloma Lake that shook homes,” read one of these reports, per KXAN.

The city of Round Rock has since confirmed that it had received similar reports from the eastern side of the city and that the city’s fire department has been investigating. However, officials have not yet identified the source of the sound.

The Dallas Express reached out to the Hutto Police Department but had not received a response as of press time.

Reports like these are only the most recent that have occurred this year. Wise County officials identified the origin of other loud “booms” heard across the county in November as being caused by reverberations from a military aircraft, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

A 1,000-pound meteor fragment caused a similar disturbance earlier this year in February as it streaked across the sky above McAllen, Texas.
