The Grapevine Police Department (GPD) announced over the weekend that a missing person who had disappeared in mid-January was found safe.
“Wonderful news to share with you tonight: our missing man, Christian Saulter-Williams, has been found safe in another city. He was reunited with his family today. We want to extend our thanks to everyone who shared his photo and offered tips,” GPD posted on Twitter.
The Dallas Express saw evidence of the community search effort earlier this month at Grapevine Market #2 convenience store on North Dove Road, where a hand-made poster showing a picture of Saulter-Williams was taped to the storefront window. It requested that any sightings of the 31-year-old be reported to GPD.
Saulter-Williams’ mother previously told CBS 11 that he did not have a history of running away and that she was worried because he did not have access to his medication for the weeks he had been away.
“It’s hard to believe that no one has had any verbal communication with him for 17 days, and we are very worried. It’s hard to believe that he has disappeared into thin air,” she said to CBS 11.
Saulter-Williams had reportedly been seen in Grapevine, Haltom City, Hurst, and Keller since first disappearing on January 18, according to WFAA.
A spokesperson for GPD told The Dallas Express that the man was found by officers with the Mesquite Police Department but did not make clear if Mesquite was the city where he was found. However, the spokesperson noted that GPD was grateful to Mesquite police for finding Saulter-Williams and for working with Grapevine police to reunite him with his family.
The Dallas Express asked GPD whether the disappearance of Saulter-Williams had anything to do with mental illness or criminal activity.
“We cannot comment on the details of his medical condition for privacy reasons, but we can tell you he left on his own, and there is no evidence to suggest a crime was committed,” replied the spokesperson.
