After Camila Mendoza Olmos vanished on Christmas Eve, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar warned she could be in “imminent danger.”

Olmos, 19, was last seen leaving her home in San Antonio the morning of December 24, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. The Texas Department of Public Safety has issued an alert for Olmos, saying she is “possibly endangered.”

Now, Salazar said officials have found information suggesting Olmos could be in “imminent danger,” according to ABC News.

“We definitely don’t want to miss anything,” Salazar said. “The ground search is somewhat limited to a couple of square miles. We’re also not ruling out that this case may take us outside the borders of the continental United States.”

Investigators have not ruled out anything in her disappearance including kidnapping, human trafficking, and the potential she left on her own, according to Salazar.

Olmos recently went through a romantic breakup, but investigators found this was mutual and did not suspect anything “nefarious,” Salazar said. He also said those close to her have been cooperating.

Olmos stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 110 pounds. She was last seen in a baby blue and black hoodie, baby blue pajama bottoms, and white shoes.

Anyone with information on her disappearance should call the sheriff’s office at 210-335-6000 or email the Missing Persons Unit at [email protected].

The Disappearance

Olmos was last seen leaving her home around 6:58 a.m. on December 24, near 11000 Caspian Spring in Northwest San Antonio, according to the sheriff’s office. Her home is on the edge of the metroplex, near multiple construction sites and rural neighborhoods.

Olmos usually goes for a morning walk, but her mother became concerned when she did not return in a “reasonable period of time.”

“Video footage from that time shows an unknown individual, believed to be Camila, searching inside her vehicle for an unidentified item,” sheriff’s officials posted on Facebook. “Moments later, the footage ends.”

Investigators believe she left home on foot, since her car was left behind. They also believe she only had her car key and possibly her driver’s license with her at the time.

Diving Deeper

Some officials reported Olmos had a history of suicidal ideation, according to WOAI.

The Dallas Express reviewed her social media, and found Olmos had reposted images from November 28 – “empathetic because everyone’s fighting battles you can’t see… empathetic because you never know who needs it most … empathetic because not everyone knows how to ask for help.”

But her posts also showed a life full of travel, concerts, and friends. They even suggested an active faith.

Most recently, Olmos reposted a TikTok video from less than one week ago – captioned “my dream before my alarm goes off,” depicting a mother and father galavanting with their kids.

Olmos’ own most recent post on TikTok, dated September 17, reads “Thank you Jesus.” The video shows her with pets, at concerts, traveling, and studying the Bible.

She also reposted a video from November 8 – “Let my life be proof of God’s love.” She reposted another from December 12, referencing Christian devotion.

“The Father runs beside us, and His mercy runs behind us. But it is His Love within us that whispers for us to reach for another’s hand, holding each other tight, running together until we make it home,” the post reads.

Olmos’ Instagram page features pictures of friends, concerts, and travels to places like Mexico. Her profile cites 1 John 4:16, which points to the love of God.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
