U.S. Rep. Colin Allred touted his endorsement from a left-wing group that has called to defund the police, abolish ICE, and pass the Green New Deal.
Allred (D-TX), who is challenging incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for the latter’s U.S. Senate seat, recently posted that he was “proud” to be endorsed by NextGen America.
NextGen America aims “to empower young voters to engage in the political process and ensure our government is responsive to the largest and most diverse generation in American history,” per its website.
“From ending gun violence to tackling the climate crisis, young Texans are on the frontlines of issues that will impact our state’s future,” Allred posted. “I’m proud to earn [NextGen America’s] endorsement and will keep fighting alongside young Texans to ensure we continue to lead into the future.”
NextGen America has a history of social media posts stating, “defund the police” and “AbolishICE” — two common talking points from far-left organizations. Other posts include calls for Congress to pass pricey policy proposals related to student loans and the environment, including passing the Green New Deal — a climate plan that former President Trump said would cost $100 trillion.
“It’s a perfect day to protect voting rights, pass a Green New Deal, cancel student debt, and establish a Civilian Climate Corps,” NetGen America posted in 2021.
Allred previously worked for NextGen America, then known as the NextGen Climate Action Committee, as a lawyer for Perkins Coie. The law group was founded by left-wing activist Marc Elias, who infamously retained Fusion GPS to write the Steele dossier opposition research during the 2016 election that claimed there was a “pee tape” of Donald Trump with Russian prostitutes, as reported by The Daily Caller. The Hillary Clinton campaign used the dossier, which was later disproven, to criticize Trump.
Elias has since emerged as a top player in the dark money network backing Democrat campaigns and leftwing causes, Fox News reported.
Allred worked a case with Perkins Coie in 2016 on election reforms in Wisconsin that were backed by $5 million from leftwing megadonor George Soros, reported The New York Times.
The Allred campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
NextGen America’s calls to abolish ICE align with Allred’s previous statements that a border wall is “racist,” as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
Allred once praised Dr. Omar Suleiman, a Texas imam who called Israel a “terrorist regime” and warned that “the beginning of the end of Zionism is here,” reported DX. The congressman has dodged questions about his ties to Suleiman.
