A pro-Ted Cruz PAC launched a six-figure advertisement campaign against the senator’s 2024 opponent, Rep. Colin Allred, which focuses on his previous comments calling the notion of a border wall “racist.”

“If you want a secure border, Colin Allred thinks you’re a racist,” the ad from the Truth and Courage PAC states before it plays a clip of the congressman speaking out against a “racist wall.”

“I have a problem with the wall, period,” Allred (D-TX) said in a clipped interview.

“Allred doesn’t care about the crime or the lives lost,” the ad continues.

“If they build that racist wall, my generation is the one to tear it down,” Allred said in another clip.

“Open borders Colin Allred doesn’t care about you,” the ad states.

Allred, a two-term congressman and former NFL player, won the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate race in Texas this month. Early and limited polling on his race against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) shows a variety of results, ranging from a tie to a 14% advantage for the incumbent. The Texas congressman responded to the Truth and Courage PAC ad by criticizing Cruz’s opposition to a bipartisan border deal that was spiked earlier this year.

“Our immigration system is broken, and to fix it, we need real solutions that secure our border, surge resources to Border Patrol and our border communities, create a pathway to earned citizenship for Dreamers, and reform our system to better meet the needs of our economy,” Allred told Fox News Digital. “When given the opportunity to actually do something, Ted Cruz put politics over a bipartisan border security bill backed by the Border Patrol Union.”

Allred has voted with President Joe Biden 100% of the time, according to FiveThirtyEight. However, he dodged questions this month on whether he would campaign with the president this year, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Unlawful border encounters hit record highs under the Biden administration as Allred voted against a series of Republican-led measures on border security, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
