Friday was pivotal in high school football throughout Dallas-Fort Worth. Here are some of the most significant results from last night’s games:

Denton Guyer 24, Allen 18

Guyer won a defensive battle and jumped into second place in District 5-6A by handing Allen its first district loss. Guyer led 7-0 at halftime and held off a late rally by Allen with an interception on third down with less than a minute left in the game.

***

Euless Trinity 77, Crowley 34

Euless Trinity also got a win that helped its standing in a big way. Trinity entered the night in third place in District 3-6A and blew the doors off second-place Crowley, giving the Eagles their first district loss. The Trojans scored 56 points between the second and third quarters but remain slightly behind Crowley in the standings with two games left.

***

Dallas Jesuit 42, Irving Nimitz 0

This one was not so much about the matchup but the result. The win moved Dallas Jesuit past Richardson Berkner and Richardson Pearce and into third place in District 7-6A. Jesuit has never lost to Nimitz and held it to just 16 passing yards in a dominant win.

***

Lake Highlands 56, Richardson Pearce 29

Lake Highlands held onto first place in 7-6A for another week. The Wildcats set the tone from the beginning, returning the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, and quarterback Tripp Holley and running back Deonte Dean combined for 498 yards and seven touchdowns in the win.

***

Highland Park 24, Irving MacArthur 14

The final score looks closer than the game actually was. Highland Park led 17-0 entering the fourth quarter, and MacArthur’s comeback attempt came up short as Highland Park responded to its first score with another touchdown to make it a 24-6 game. MacArthur did add another late touchdown, but it was too little, too late.

***

Waxahachie 16, Mansfield 14

Waxahachie got a big win to take control of third place in 11-6A, while Mansfield will have to fight off Cedar Hill for fourth. Waxahachie held a three-point lead late in the game and scored a pivotal rushing touchdown with 4:12 remaining. Mansfield responded with a score and even recovered an onside kick to set up a final Hail Mary, but the pass fell incomplete.

***

Aledo 25, Denton Ryan 19

Denton Ryan came within 1:35 of snapping Aledo’s 22-game winning streak. Aledo opened up an early 17-0 lead and looked to be running away with the win, but Ryan clawed its way back and took a 19-17 lead with 7:11 remaining. However, TCU commit Hauss Hejny scored a clutch 57-yard rushing touchdown and completed the two-point conversion to take a six-point lead. Ryan got one more shot to pull off the upset but could not gain more than three yards before giving the ball back to Aledo to ice the game.

***

Frisco Reedy 45, Frisco 3

Frisco was another of the schools to suffer its first district loss on Friday. Reedy put up 407 yards of offense while holding Frisco to 112 as it cruised to a 42-point victory and took over second place in 6-5A Division I.

***

Longview 36, McKinney North 13

Longview assumed first place in District 7-5A Division I with a convincing win over McKinney North. Longview took control of the game with a three-touchdown second quarter that followed a McKinney North touchdown and added two more in the second half to build an insurmountable 36-7 lead. North cracked double-digits with a late score and is now tied with Forney at 4-1 in the district.

***

Lake Dallas 36, Frisco Emerson 35

Frisco Emerson suffered its second consecutive loss and dropped all the way to fourth place in District 3-5A Division II. Lake Dallas overcame a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit and scored the winning touchdown with 18 seconds left.

***

Celina 49, Dallas Carter 34

Celina remains unbeaten after a touchdown-filled game, keeping up with Frisco Panther Creek with a pivotal matchup looming.
