Oklahoma and Texas are on bye weeks, but most other schools across Texas and the Big 12 remain in action this week. Here is the football schedule for Week 7.

THURSDAY
West Virginia (4-1, 2-0 in the Big 12) at Houston (2-3, 0-2 in the Big 12), 6 p.m. CT, FS1
West Virginia looks to keep up with Oklahoma and Texas atop the Big 12, while Houston looks to create some momentum for a late-season run. The Mountaineers have won four in a row since their season-opening loss to Penn State, while Houston has had its share of struggles. The two schools have never played a football game against each other, but the fact that Houston head coach Dana Holgorsen left West Virginia for his current job adds intrigue.

SMU (3-2, 1-0 in American Athletic Conference) at East Carolina (1-4, 0-1 in American Athletic Conference), 6:30 p.m. CT, ESPN
SMU looks for a 2-0 start in the American against a struggling East Carolina team. The Mustangs responded to a disappointing loss to TCU with a win over Charlotte last week, and this matchup favors their dynamic passing attack.

SATURDAY
Iowa State (3-3, 2-1 in the Big 12) at Cincinnati (2-3, 0-2 in the Big 12), 11 a.m. CT, FS1
Iowa State won an ugly game against TCU last week but has not fared well for most of the season. Meanwhile, Cincinnati is having a down year and has yet to win a conference game in its first year as a member of the Big 12. Can the Bearcats play well enough at home to end the streak?

***

Temple (2-4, 0-2 in American Athletic Conference) at North Texas (2-3, 0-1 in American Athletic Conference), 11 a.m. CT, ESPNU
North Texas’ winning streak was snapped against Navy last week, but the Mean Green still played well — rallying from a 10-point deficit in the second half and ultimately falling short. Temple has lost three straight, and the North Texas offense appears to have the advantage in this game.

***

Texas A&M (4-2, 2-1 in the SEC) at No.19 Tennessee (4-1, 1-1 in the SEC), 2:30 p.m. CT, CBS
Tennessee entered the season with high expectations but took a hit with a loss against Florida. Now, the Volunteers have won two in a row and are trying to get back into the SEC race. After a narrow loss to Alabama last week, A&M has the same goal in mind as it tries to keep up with Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss in the SEC West.

***

No.23 Kansas (5-1, 2-1 in the Big 12) at Oklahoma State (3-2, 1-1 in the Big 12), 2:30 p.m. CT, FS1
Texas is the only team that has been able to stop Kansas this season, while Oklahoma State has struggled against some bad teams. However, the Cowboys knocked off Kansas State last week and finally got a good performance from their offense. They will need to replicate that performance if they hope to keep up with a Kansas offense that averages 36.3 points and 433.7 yards per game despite injuries.

***

BYU (4-1, 1-1 in the Big 12) at TCU (3-3, 1-2 in the Big 12), 2:30 p.m. CT, ESPN
BYU has been the surprise team in the Big 12 after a 4-1 start, but the most significant test the Cougars have faced was a 38-27 loss to Kansas. Meanwhile, TCU has fallen to 10th in the conference and turns to redshirt freshman quarterback Josh Hoover for his first career start after starter Chandler Morris suffered an MCL sprain last week. The Horned Frogs put up better numbers than BYU across the board, but will it translate to the field under a new field general?
***

Kansas State (3-2, 1-1 in the Big 12) at Texas Tech (3-3, 2-1 in the Big 12), 6 p.m. CT, FS1
This is a crucial matchup in the Big 12 as Texas Tech surges, and Kansas State needs a win to keep pace. The Red Raiders have won two straight to start conference play after a 1-3 start to the season and can spring toward the top of the conference with another win, while a loss for Kansas State dampens its expectations heading into next week’s game against TCU.

***

Louisiana-Monroe (2-3, 0-2 in Sun Belt Conference) at Texas State (4-2, 1-1 in Sun Belt Conference), 6 p.m. CT, ESPN+
Texas State’s surprise run continues against Louisiana-Monroe. Despite losing to the University of Louisiana last week, the Bobcats come into this game at 4-2 with a lethal offense. The strategies between these two teams differ so much that Monroe could have trouble making it a game, especially if Texas State turns it into a track meet.

***

UAB (2-4, 1-1 in American Athletic Conference) at Texas-San Antonio (2-3, 1-0 in American Athletic Conference), 7 p.m. CT, ESPNU
A game that features two of the new AAC members who are struggling this season. UTSA has played much of the year without star quarterback Frank Harris, but his return last week seemed to rejuvenate his team. UAB earned its first conference win last week and looks to build off the momentum.
