It was a busy sports weekend throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Here is what happened on the ice, on the field, and behind the scenes.

NHL

Dallas Stars (series tied 2-2)

Last Game: Stars 3, Minnesota Wild 2

Evgenii Dadonov’s third-period goal gave the Stars a 2-0 lead, and Tyler Seguin’s second power-play goal of the game made it 3-1 with just over three minutes to play. Minnesota’s Frederick Gaudreau scored to cut the lead back to one with 1:20 left.

But ultimately goalie Jake Oettinger fought off Minnesota’s final attacks — including a point-blank glove save on Marcus Johansson — to preserve the win and bring the series back to Dallas tied at 2-2.

Noteworthy: The teams have alternated wins throughout the series’ first four games, with Minnesota winning Games 1 and 3 and Dallas winning Games 2 and 4. They also finished the regular season with a 2-2 split.

— Goalie Jake Oettinger is the only Minnesota-born goalie with playoff wins against a Minnesota-based franchise.

MLB

Texas Rangers (14-7, first in American League West)

Last Games: Oakland Athletics 5, Rangers 4; Rangers 18, Athletics 3; Rangers 5, Athletics 2

After dropping Friday’s game, the Rangers recovered to take two of their three games against Oakland over the weekend.

Adolis Garcia’s three-home-run, eight-RBI night led Texas to an 18-3 win on Saturday, while Jacob deGrom’s 11 strikeouts limited the Athletics’ offense on Sunday.

Noteworthy: Garcia became the third player since 1901 with at least three home runs, eight RBIs, five runs scored, and 16 total bases in one game. He leads the majors with 28 RBIs this season.

— The Rangers have won 10 of their last 13 games.

— With 11 strikeouts on Sunday, deGrom leads the MLB with 43 strikeouts this season — two more than Toronto’s Kevin Gausman.

Next Up: Rangers at Cincinnati Reds (7-15), 5:40 p.m. CT Monday

The RoughRiders split their six-game set with the Arkansas Travelers last week, finishing the weekend with a 6-3 win.

The teams resumed Thursday’s suspended game as part of a Friday doubleheader, which they also split. Dio Arias hit four home runs in the series, while Chris Seise went 5-15 with two home runs and four RBIs.

Noteworthy: RoughRiders pitchers struck out a season-high 19 batters in Sunday’s win.

— Top Rangers pitching prospect Owen White (1-0, 2.13 ERA) will take the mound when Frisco resumes play on Tuesday.

XFL

Arlington Renegades (4-6, second in XFL South)
Last Game: Houston Roughnecks 25, Renegades 9

Arlington’s offense could not find the endzone as the Renegades closed the regular season with a loss. Taylor Russolino made three field goals to account for all the Renegades’ scoring, while a pick-six from Houston’s Tavante Beckett in the third quarter helped put the game out of reach.

Noteworthy: Despite finishing the season with a 4-6 record, the Renegades have made the playoffs as the second-place team in the XFL’s South Division and will face Houston for a third time in the XFL semifinals on Saturday.

Next Up: Renegades at Roughnecks (7-3), XFL Semifinals, 6 p.m. CT Saturday
