Sweeping Andrews, Argyle ‘punches their ticket to the regional finals’

Sports

The Argyle Eagles baseball team could soon join the school’s boys and girls golf teams to complete a state title hat trick, but it has a Class 4A regional final date with Stephenville to take care of first.

Argyle defeated Andrews 11-0 on May 29 to sweep the regional semifinal series.

“Argyle punches their ticket to the regional finals with a decisive 11-0 game 2 win against Andrews. They will face Stephenville for the right to represent Region 1 in Austin,” the 4ATxHsBaseball Twitter account posted post-game.

The two-time state champion Eagles found themselves with a 3-0 lead to start the game courtesy of three Andrews errors.

Argyle then proceeded to score in the game’s subsequent innings.

The Eagles and Stephenville begin their series on Thursday, June 3 at Denton Ryan High School.
