The Frisco Wakeland Wolverines baseball team squeaked out a 2-1 regional semifinal clinching Game 2 victory over the Corsicana Tigers on May 28, setting up a regional final matchup against Hallsville.

The scoreboard stayed dormant until the sixth when Wakeland broke the 0-0 stalemate with an Addison Brown RBI single.

Blake Setatole eliminated a Corsicana scoring threat at the bottom of the seventh to help lift the Wolverines much closer toward state.

“Proud of our boys, way to overcome adversity and find a way to win. Onto to the Final 8 in state. Round 5 Regional Final vs a great Hallsville team,” the program’s Twitter account posted on May 28.

Wakeland opened the semifinals with an 8-1 win, highlighted by University of Houston signee Luke Robertson’s no-hitter.

Robertson and TCU signee Robert Fortenberry formed the Wolverines’ 1-2 punch on the mound that rendered the Tigers to just a mere run in each of the two contests.
