Former TCU defensive back and South Oak Cliff High School standout Kyron Chambers has committed to play at SMU as a transfer.

Chambers entered the transfer portal last month and became the third TCU corner to leave the program this offseason at the time.

The sophomore spent one season at TCU, playing in five games after a high school career that included a state championship and First-Team District 6-5A Division II honors.

According to 247 Sports, he began spring practice working with the third-string defense but also earned reps with the first and second units.

Chambers initially committed to Arizona before flipping to TCU. He was a three-star recruit and the No.45 cornerback in the country as he entered college and chose TCU over Arizona, Indiana, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, and others.

He becomes the 23rd player to join the SMU program via the portal since the end of the 2022-23 season.
