If the 6A second-best Keller Indians baseball team needed a challenge to test their might, they sure received one from Northwest Eaton in Game 3 of the Region I quarterfinals.

The Indians, who are ranked No. 2 in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches’ Association Class 6A state poll, withstood a five-run comeback attempt by Eaton to win 13-10.

“Regional Quarterfinal Champs!!!! Great job @KHS_Baseball – on to round 4,” the school athletic trainers’ Twitter account tweeted on May 22.

Keller trailed 5-4 before going on a tear that gave the Indians a 13-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh.

That was when Eaton made things interesting with their ill-fated rally.

The win gave Keller hurler and Sam Houston State signee Braden Davis a 4-0 record.
