Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Texas Rangers (52-39, first in American League West)

Sunday’s game: Washington Nationals 7, Rangers 2

The Rangers reached the All-Star break after the loss, having dropped 8 of their last 11. They have not won a series since winning two of three against the Chicago White Sox on June 19-21.

Noteworthy: Adolis García drove in both of the Rangers’ runs.

— “You take where we’re at at the break,” Texas Manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Sunday, according to The Associated Press. “Do we like how it’s gone the last couple weeks? No, this is not how we want to finish. There’s challenges during the course of a season and every club goes through them. … I will say I think the break is coming at a good time. This has been a tough part of the schedule.”

— The Rangers drafted the University of Florida outfielder Wyatt Langford at No.4 overall in the Sunday night MLB draft, as previously reported by The Dallas Express. They do not have another pick until the fourth round.

Next up: Five Rangers players will start Tuesday night’s All-Star Game in Seattle.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Frisco RoughRiders (6-6 second half, 2 games behind in Texas League South division; 37-43 overall)

Sunday’s game: RoughRiders 8, Midland RockHounds 1

RoughRiders scored all their runs in two innings, including a Thomas Saggese home run at home.

Noteworthy: Frisco scored three runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Scott Kapers, and added five runs in the fifth.

— The RoughRiders have split five consecutive series, the longest streak in recorded franchise history.

Next up: Frisco travels to Amarillo on Friday, July 14.

WNBA

Dallas Wings (10-9, second in WNBA Western Conference)

Sunday’s game: Wings 77, Indiana Fever 76

Arike Ogunbowale scored 28 points and five assists to lead Dallas. She has scored 20 points in 11 games this season.

Noteworthy: The Wings handed the Las Vegas Aces only their second loss of the season, 80-78, in Arlington on Friday night. Natasha Howard made two free throws with less than a second to play to clinch the victory.

— “I told them in one of the timeouts, I said, ‘You know what separates good from the great? … If you want to be in that championship [discussion], you’ve got to win on the road,’ Wings Coach Latricia Trammell said after the game, according to WNBA.com. “So that’s something that we talked about, and these players always respond. I mean, they find moments to make big plays at the best time possible.”

Next up: The Wings travel to Minnesota for a noon CT game Wednesday.
