Plano East Senior High alumna Maya McCutcheon has moved eastward by transferring to West Virginia University after two seasons with Oklahoma.

The WVU athletic department’s website reported that the Murphy native joined the Mountaineers women’s soccer roster for 2021.

McCutcheon’s prep program praised its former midfielder’s move.

“One of our own. Congratulations Maya,” the PES soccer program’s Twitter account posted on July 7.

During her time in Norman, McCutcheon started 27 matches and appeared in 35, landing on the All-Big 12 Freshman Team, Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, and Academic All-Big 12 First Team, WVU reported.

McCutcheon played club soccer for FC Dallas aside from starring for PES.

She helped her team clinch Texas Conference Championships in 2017 and 2018.
