Episcopal School of Dallas soccer star Max Moorman has signed to attend Sewanee: The University of the South.

Moorman, who was one of 12 winter sport athletes honored with the SPC all-North Zone Award this year, played all four years for the ESD varsity team.  Moorman was also one of 16 ESD senior athletes across six different sports honored for college commitments.

During his senior season, Moorman was tabbed as team captain and started every game of the season at center back.

Moorman ended his ESD career as the inaugural Mark Gardner Memorial Award winner.  The honor is annually awarded to the graduating senior “who leaves an indelible mark on the boys soccer program.

“Max Moorman is a worthy recipient of the 2021 Mark Gardner Memorial Award,” said Phil McCarthy, Boys Soccer program director. “Over the past four years, Max has developed into an All SPC-level center back, and, during his senior year, he was the undisputed leader of our team. Max represented the program well on the field and off. He’ll be greatly missed next year, but no doubt his presence will be felt on Sewanee’s roster and campus.”
