Turner High School softball star Mia Uvaldo has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Langston University in Oklahoma.

“The last few weeks have been super exciting for our of ladies but @miaaa.piaa signing with @langstonuniversity #softball has to be one of the biggest highlights of the year,” the team posted on its Instagram page. “We’re so proud of all she’s accomplished on and off the diamond. We cannot wait to see the greatness that lies ahead for you Mia.”

Uvaldo turned in a season to remember for the Carrolton-Farmers Branch ISD school, earning nominations to the TGCA All-Star and All-State teams as well as Athlete of the Year nomination.

“Mia dedicated 4 years of her life to our program helping establish a solid foundation and leading the way for countless other Lions,” team officials said in another post to Instagram. “Thank you Mia! We cannot wait to watch you play at the next level.”

Uvaldo joins a Langston program that had five softball players named to the Sooner Athletic Conference all-conference team this year.

As a pitcher, shortstop and outfielder for Turner, Uvaldo is hoping her versatility will help her fit right in.
