Dallas Highland Park golf coach Johnny Ringo is singing the praises of his trio of senior co-captains after the Scots finished first and third in the UIL State Golf Tournament.

“Appreciate the great leadership from our captains this year leading the Scots to a first/third place finish,” Ringo posted on Twitter. “Thanks Hudson Weibel, Pierce Johnson and Thompson Huthnance for four great years.”

Competing on the third-place finishing Gold Team, Huthnance fired a 143 to also tie for third in the individual competition with Weibel and Granbury’s Ty Holbrook.

The Scots Blue walked away with the team title after finishing with a score of 585 to earn the schools 22nd state title and fourth straight.

Sophomore star Preston Cooper bagged the overall individual title, firing scores of 70 and 71 on back-to-back days to finish at 141 overall.
