Former University of North Texas basketball star, Conference USA Player of the Year, and Most Outstanding Player of the NIT Championship Tylor Perry has chosen his next school.

The senior guard chose to join head coach Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats over Florida, Ole Miss, and Texas Tech, announcing his decision in a brief video on Twitter.

“The time has come for me to change paths and take on my next challenge, but I’ll forever be a Mean Green alum,” Perry said. “With that being said, I’ll be committing to…”

Then, the video cuts to footage of Coach Tang, Perry, and several others enjoying his visit to Kansas State.

Perry spent two years with the Mean Green after transferring from Coffeyville Community College in his hometown of Coffeyville, Oklahoma.

In the 2022-23 season, Perry led North Texas in scoring with 17.3 points per game, was a top 20 three-point shooter in the nation, and helped the Mean Green win a school-record 31 games and its first postseason national championship in the NIT.

Perry’s commitment gives Kansas State a natural replacement for high-scoring point guard Markquis Nowell, who declared for the 2023 NBA Draft after averaging a career-high 17.6 points and leading the Wildcats on a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Due to NCAA rules, both schools are prohibited from commenting on Perry’s decision before he officially signs with his new program.
