Former TCU quarterback Bram Kohlhausen has been hospitalized in San Antonio with serious injuries, according to his former head coach Gary Patterson.

Patterson posted the news on Twitter, adding that Kohlhausen was in the ICU after an accident.

“Just wanted all Frogs to keep Bram Kolhausen in your prayers tonight!” Patterson tweeted. “He suffered serious injuries and is [in the] ICU in San Antonio. He will need all your help and prayers! Coach P.”

Kohlhausen fell about 70 to 80 feet from a helicopter while hunting near the San Antonio area and was admitted to the Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition.

The Dallas Express contacted the Brooke Army Medical Center for an update on his condition and has yet to receive a response.

“Bram Kohlhausen means so much to so many people and is an important part of our TCU family,” TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jeremiah Donati said in a statement to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We love Bram and have him and his family in our thoughts and prayers during a very difficult time.”

Current head coach Sonny Dykes was asked about the Kohlhausen news while attending the San Antonio QB Club Lunch on Tuesday.

“I heard about it over the weekend, and certainly everybody’s thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” Dykes told KENS 5 San Antonio. “I think everyone knows how tough he is and what a fighter he is, so we’re all wishing a speedy recovery to him and his family.”

Kohlhausen became a backup quarterback for TCU after transferring from Houston and L.A. Harbor College in 2014. He played in four games that first season in Fort Worth and was instrumental in filling in for injured star quarterback Trevone Boykin against Kansas and Oklahoma in 2015.

After Boykin was suspended following an arrest before the 2016 Valero Alamo Bowl against Oregon, Kohlhausen was thrust into the starting role.

The Horned Frogs trailed 31-0 at halftime, but Kohlhausen rallied his team as they completed a remarkable comeback with a 47-41 win in triple overtime in a game that oddly featured a halftime wardrobe change by Patterson.

The quarterback was named the game’s offensive MVP after throwing for 351 yards and two touchdowns while adding two rushing touchdowns in his final collegiate game.

He finished his career with 763 yards and five touchdown passes in 12 games.
