Arlington police arrested 10 people and ejected numerous others after multiple disturbances erupted during high school football championship games at AT&T Stadium on Saturday.
The incidents forced authorities to clear entire sections of the venue hosting three Texas state title games.
The disruptions marred what should have been a celebration of Texas high school football excellence.
Large crowds gathered to witness championship victories, including Dallas South Oak Cliff’s triumph and DeSoto’s dominant performance.
Arlington police reported that officers and stadium staff responded to “several disturbances” involving large groups in the concourses throughout Saturday’s games. The scale of the incidents, such as the one that went viral in this video posted by ChangeofplanZ Media, required clearing the affected sections entirely, according to authorities.
Police dispersed the crowds and ejected a “significant number” of individuals from the stadium, Fox 4 KDFW reported.
The 10 arrests included charges ranging from criminal trespass to assault on a public servant.
Other offenses included fighting in public, interference with public duties, and resisting arrest. Some individuals were arrested on active felony and misdemeanor warrants.
Authorities did not release names or ages of those arrested. The specific triggers for the disturbances remain unclear.
The incidents occurred during three championship games at the Arlington venue. Dallas’ South Oak Cliff defeated Richmond Randle 35-19 in the 5A Division 2 championship.
Galena Park North Shore edged Duncanville 10-7 for the 6A Division 1 title. The DeSoto Eagles dominated the Sheldon King Panthers 55-27 in the 6A Division 2 championship.
The University Interscholastic League oversees Texas high school athletics competitions. AT&T Stadium regularly hosts the state’s most prestigious high school football championship games.
