The high school football season continued in the Dallas-Fort Worth area over the weekend. Here is what happened in some of the big games:

Highland Park 21, No.13 Lewisville 18
Highland Park pulled off the upset, taking advantage of excellent field position and turnovers in the first half to take a 21-10 lead. Its defense came up with some key stops, even as Lewisville threatened to come back late in the second half. Lewisville reached the Highland Park 45-yard line on its final possession, but Ethan Terrell’s last heave fell to the turf.

No.1 Duncanville 44, Rockledge (Florida) 0
The No.1 team in the state stormed past its visitors from Florida on Saturday. Keelon Russell threw three touchdown passes, and Ja’Qualon Armstrong ran for 125 yards and a score as the Panthers put up nearly 500 yards of offense.

***

Midlothian 32, Ennis 17
Midlothian came out with the win in a battle of two of DFW’s top 20 5A teams. Midlothian used a 13-0 second quarter to pull away, and wide receiver Bryant Wesco caught two touchdowns in the second half to help hold off any potential rally from Ennis.

***

Cedar Hill 33, Arlington Martin 2
It was a tough loss for Arlington Martin, as its only score came on a safety in the fourth quarter. Martin is now 0-2 this season.

***

Aledo 48, Denton Guyer 45
The defending 5A Division I state champs beat one of the top 6A teams in the area. Aledo trailed 38-31 entering the fourth quarter and scored 17 points in the final frame, including Cole Crawford’s game-winning field goal as time expired, which extended Aledo’s winning streak to 16 games.

***

Dallas Jesuit 60, No.17 Rockwall 59
Rockwall had a two-possession lead entering the fourth quarter, but Jesuit stormed back for a one-point win. After losing its lead, Rockwall scored a late touchdown to get back on top 59-52, but Jesuit drove down the field and scored a touchdown with 22 seconds left. Instead of kicking the extra point to potentially go to overtime, Dallas Jesuit actioned a two-point conversion for the win.

***

Rockwall-Heath 31, Euless Trinity 24
Drew Smith’s 11-yard rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter broke a 24-24 tie and sealed the win for Rockwall-Heath. The Hawks moved to 1-1 on the season, while Euless Trinity fell to 0-2 after back-to-back heartbreaking losses in the final minute.

***

South Oak Cliff 42, Lancaster 21
Back-to-back defending state champ South Oak Cliff got back on track in 5A, beating Divison II’s second-ranked team by three scores after falling to Duncanville last week. Lancaster beat South Oak Cliff last season, but South Oak Cliff outscored Lancaster 28-7 over the final 28 minutes of game time to take the rematch.

***

Red Oak 28, Arlington Seguin 0
Red Oak won the matchup between The Dallas Morning News’ 14th- and 15th-ranked 5A teams in the DFW area. The Hawks won the turnover battle and held Arlington Seguin to just 175 yards on the night.
