Now that the Dallas Cowboys’ season is over, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will begin interviewing for head coaching jobs across the league for the third consecutive season.

According to reports, Quinn is scheduled to interview with five of the seven teams that remain without a head coach this week. Sports Illustrated reported he will interview with the Tennessee Titans and the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday, division rival Washington Commanders on Thursday, and the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday.

The Seattle Times also reported that Quinn is a candidate for the Seattle Seahawks vacancy and will interview with them on Thursday.

Quinn has been with the Cowboys since 2021 after being fired as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons part way through the 2020 season. He has led a quick turnaround, with his defense becoming one of the best in the league at forcing turnovers during his tenure. However, many blame him for the team’s surprising loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Quinn’s previous head coaching stint in Atlanta included a run to the Super Bowl, where the Falcons infamously blew a 28-3 halftime lead against the New England Patriots and lost in overtime. Atlanta also has a vacancy, but Quinn has not been linked to it, and that is expected to remain the case.

The 53-year-old is best known for building Seattle’s vaunted “Legion of Boom” defense that helped bring Seattle its first Super Bowl championship. A return to Seattle could make sense, especially with his old boss, Pete Carroll, moving into an advisory role with the team, but the other teams could really use his influence on the defensive side of the ball.

Quinn has turned down head coach offers to remain in Dallas in the past, but this could be the time he decides it is time to take the leap.
